In 2012, one year after I graduated from Michigan State University with my Ph.D., I initiated the Anatolian Seeds Recovery and Preservation (ANATOHUM) Project to connect with my homeland of Turkey, as an immigrant in the U.S. In 2013, the project evolved into a small seed company, Two Seeds in a Pod, and then I quit my engineering career to become a seed keeper and farmer.
